The Financier - Theodore Dreiser Came home from Chicago with the strange desire to read Dreiser. I always think of Saul Bellow, Richard Wright, Gwendolyn Brooks, and the endless number of great writers who passed through there, but I think most of "Sister Carrie." A little Dreiser goes a long way - he really is a dreadful writer - but that turn-of-the-century Chicago has always stuck with me.
